Mercedes-Benz recently introduced a new addition to its GLE range, the 580. The model balances a mild-hybrid system with a 4L biturbo V8; in that respect, it’s all things to all buyers, like other vehicles in the GLE line. But its suite of performance-oriented features makes it a driver’s SUV over all.

The combination of the 48-volt electrical system and the ICE allows the GLE 580 to produce 483 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. When the EQ Boost is engaged, the vehicle will temporarily kick in an additional 21 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque, a nice touch for highway positioning when traffic is on the heavy side.

Inside the cabin, the luxury SUV fits in with its fellow GLE designs. Plenty of advanced tech features are on board, including dual 12.3-inch touchscreen displays, augmented reality navigation video, and smart voice control. Customers can also opt to include a third row of seats.

Pricing for the new GLE 580 starts at $77,795, in addition to a destination and delivery fee.
