Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s 90210 Mansion on the Market for $25M—Down From $35M

Ex-couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s sprawling home saw a significant price reduction this month. January 2017 saw the 7-bed, 10-bath property asking a cool $35 million; a little over a year later found it at $29 million. It’s now priced at $24.99 million, a not-bad price for a 15,000 square footer on two acres in Beverly Hills.

The home dates to 1998, and was designed with a foot in the modern style. Its architecture doesn’t claim affiliation with any one style, though. The rule of thumb in this case is scale.

Depending on your point of view, the interiors are either a design tour-de-force, or a fatiguing travel-log of contrived shock value. Perhaps both. They’re certainly strikingly aggressive, a rock-and-roll funhouse version of Beverly Hills, and a living style that places owners—like it or not—in an intrinsic spotlight.

Not necessarily, therefore, an easy house to sell, despite being endlessly interesting. Bombastic as a Marshall stack cranked for an outdoor festival, the provocative series of patterns, textures, and high-end materials present a cavalcade of restless ideas. Par for the course for two super-creatives like Stefani and Rossdale, but not an easy sell for the average buyer.

The foyer sets the tone with its pattern in black and white marble, and the theme continues throughout the shared living spaces. The kitchen’s latitudinal black-on-white stripes may preclude the necessity of morning espresso. The dining room…ah, the dining room. Black and white chevron flooring, and a competing related pattern on the ceiling above like a series of electrical currents. A staircase well features a marble floor and treads, as well as Rorschach test pattern walls and a lighted sculptural installation. Yowza. The bedrooms are all as expressive, each in its own way.

The lot extends to two acres, a generous sliver of the 90210 which contains a tennis court, a guest house, a zero-edge pool, pavilion, and pool house, and lawns, offering panoramic city views along the way.
