Former Vice President Dick Cheney has sold his Maryland estate for $2.1 million after a long period on the market.
Cheney and spouse Lynne paid $2.67 million for the waterfront Saint Michaels property back in 2005. It was last listed at $2.5 million.
The property has an interesting history. It was constructed in 1930, for Thomas Edison’s daughter Madeleine, and called Ballintober. Its exterior period feel is accentuated by a steeply-pitched roof, a long, two-floor layout, and dormer windows.
The main home is a three-bedroom, three-bath which welcomes via a pediment entry to an open floorplan that includes a formal dining space and a combination kitchen and family room space. A guest cottage an in-law apartment bring the total accommodations to five bedrooms and 4.5 baths within just shy of 5,000 square feet of interior living space.
The property’s nine acres are open and romantic in the East Coast style. A gated entrance, a meandering drive, lawns, and striking Chesapeake Bay views are all part and parcel of the living style. A deep-water dock, gardens and walking paths are also features on the tree-dotted property.
