Renowned TV writer Peter Casey recently listed his custom Los Angeles-area manse for $7.998 million.
The Toluca Lake residence was constructed in 1995, and is set on more than an acre of land. It spans 6,602 square feet across two floors, and contains six bedrooms, 5.5 baths, and a rambling layout.
The house begins with a grand foyer and a curving staircase. The interiors are quite warm, with natural-toned wide-plank hardwood, ceilings renovated with tongue-and-groove, and competing wood tones. Throughout the home, curved and circular lines enhance the gentleness of the interiors, although they occasionally stray into formality.
A family room with a stacked stone fireplace is especially inviting. The living room opens up to a bright sunroom filled with windows and natural light. The gourmet kitchen features a pair of islands, pine cabinetry, and a glass-enclosed wine cellar. The home also boasts a classic wood-paneled library complete with a fireplace and built-in bookcases.
The larger lot gives the home a nice frame, and a great deal of breathing room; its water frontage adds a welcome addition to the property’s recreational profile. A spacious dining patio, a sitting area, an outdoor fireplace, and a swimming pool with a spa fill out the possibilities nicely.
Casey’s career includes extensive work on “Cheers” and its spinoff, “Frasier.”
