Former SuperSonics forward Shawn Kemp listed his French country-style estate in Washington State. The NBA All-Star listed the very formal property in Maple Valley with a $2.5 million asking price. That’s a considerable trim from the previous ask of $3.7 million, and a bit close to the knuckle: Kemp purchased it in 2003 for around $2.4 million.
The 13,000-square-foot lakefront home is likely to sell at its reduced price, though, despite its decade on the market; at $2.5 million, it’s got a lot to commend it. It’s set on five acres of forested land, and features an understated design with five-bedrooms, a grand double-height entrance that opens to the formal living room with a wall of windows and a central fireplace, and a formal dining room complete with detailed moldings and a luxurious chandelier. Intricate paneling and mid-tone hardwood floors are found throughout, including in the combination kitchen/family room with built-in shelving.
Clearly, the residence was developed with entertaining in mind: the home boasts a recreation room, two wet bars, and a series of auxiliary living spaces which collectively lend themselves to larger gatherings.
Outside, the grounds are lush and expansive. There’s plenty of room for a tennis court, basketball court, putting green, garage, and swimming pool with a spa amid the lawns and mature trees.
Six-time All-Star Kemp also played with the Trailblazers, the Magic, and the Cavaliers.
