Hockey Great Jeremy Roenick Sells 18-Acre Scottsdale Compound for $3.3M

After seven years on and off the market, NHL star Jeremy Roenick’s Arizona home sold for $3.3 million.

The retired hockey star purchased the Scottsdale residence for around $3.8 million back in 2005, so this sale comes at a significant loss. But after seven long years, an acceptable resolution counts for something.

Still and all, the loss likely has more to do with the inflated market of the mid-00s, and less to do with the house itself. Set on 18 acres of eerily green desert land, the 7,400-square-foot home stands out with a number of dark rustic features. Unless they are planning on a major renovation, the buyer was likely drawn to the unique styling including a blend of walnut floors, luxe woods, various stone accents, and copper trim.

The seven-bedroom, 7.5-bath home’s central gathering space is the open concept living room, which features distressed beamed ceilings, a stacked-stone fireplace, and a broad bank of glass sliders opening to the backyard. The space flows seamlessly to the gourmet kitchen with its large eat-in island.

Other luxurious touches include a saloon-style lounge with a wet bar, a wine cellar, a game room, and two dedicated master suites. Outside, the expansive gated property also boasts a two-bedroom guesthouse, a Wiffle ball field, a pitch-and-putt golf space, a covered patio, and a swimming pool.

Roenick spent the bulk of his career with the Blackhawks; 2005 found him playing on the West Coast, and in need of a home in the area.
