Fingerpicking guitar stylist Lindsey Buckingham has put a European-influenced, 10,000 square-foot mansion in Los Angeles up for sale. The longtime Fleetwood Mac member is asking $29.5 million for the property in Brentwood, which comprises a sizeable slice of the upscale neighborhood—1.2 acres.
The manor-style home dates to 2007, and was designed by the musician and his wife, Kristen. The exterior architecture is romantic and imposing, with a turret, stone or masonry walls, French casements, and a strongly expressed varied roofline accumulating into a convincing contemporary take on European-style aristocratic living.
The interiors are warm, and very tasteful. The primary staircase follows the wall of the turret, and is illuminated by a massive, multi-paned window; arches, soft greys, a fireplace, and warm wood also contribute to a complex first impression. As the house develops, herringbone-pattern and plank floors in what appears to be reclaimed wood, paneling, and exposed beams also figure heavily in the composition.
Standout spaces include the kitchen, which puts a very balanced spin on contemporary farmhouse, with moody blue-grey offset by a whimsical series of light fixtures, stainless, and a large butcher-block island cap, and the family room, which is paneled in wood, and features another of the seven fireplaces in the home.
The master suite, of course, gets another, and its own wing in the bargain. This culminating space in the home’s series of charming accommodations also features his-and-hers walk-in closets, a sitting room, and a private entrance.
The property exterior is very private, and features lawns, gardens, extensive patio space, a pool and pavilion, tennis court, outdoor fireplace, and one-bedroom guest quarters.
