“The Dark Knight” actor Aaron Eckhart has listed his nicely-detailed Beverly Hills modern-style for $3.1 million.

The television and movie star paid $1.5 million for the L.A. residence back in 2002.

The 1960-built, 3,000-square-foot residence has character to boot; it could benefit from a modern, minimalist touch that preserves some of the period crafted features. Unique details include the original plank hardwood floors; the honey tone carries the warm optimism of the era. The kitchen’s concept design puts them to use poetically in a design that makes the island the sun-like center of the room; an unusual touch, but it works well.

The three-bedroom, 4.5 bath house stands out with a spacious open-concept main living space featuring a wall of windows offering views of the ocean, city, and canyon beyond. The most acute selling point of the property may actually be the relatively secluded two-acre Coldwater Canyon hilltop location.

Eckhart is currently at work on the feature film “Wander”; the film is being directed by April Muller.
