Actress Kristin Davis has listed her hillside Los Angeles-area home for sale for $3.3 million.
The house—located in the Brentwood community of Mandeville—dates to the late 1970s. Its architecture fuses traditional and contemporary styles, with a pronounced Japanese design inspiration. A streetside impression finds a shoji-style garage door, extended eaves, and an Eastern lantern sconce.
Within, the home mixes contemporary American and Japanese living styles. It’s bright, it’s very open, and it features a pleasing balance of ethereal and down-to-earth, with exposed, polished beams and joists, plank hardwood, a black iron woodstove with a straight cylindrical chimney, and hardwood jambs and frames giving the place a literate, tastefully unprepossessing living style.
The interiors are thoughtful, a bit artistic, and soothing. An industrial-style staircase, a bit of slab travertine, colorful artisanal tile in a bath, reclaimed redwood, requisite contemporary mosaic tile in another bath, and a shoji screen in one of the bedrooms are all part and parcel of the composition. the 4,043 square-footer has a layered feel as a result.
The location precludes extensive outdoor living space, and the just under half-acre-sized lot keeps to the fundamentals and eschews the pool. An outdoor balcony deck offers fine views of the local environs, though, which are green and leafy, and the easygoing landscaping makes this property a very private spot.
‘Sex and the City’ alumus Davis is currently at work on feature film ‘Christmas in the Wild;’ the film also stars Rob Lowe.
