Tennis champion Michael Chang is hoping the listing of his Orange County mansion for $8 million will result in a grand slam of a deal.
The retired International Tennis Hall-of-Famer had the Coto de Caza community residence custom built about 29 years ago, shortly after his big win at the 1989 French Open. The expansive 9.5-acre lot boasts a pair of residences, and interior living spaces measure in at over 10,000 square feet.
The main house is a seven-bedroom, 5.5-bath Mediterranean-style of 7,665 square feet. It has been completely updated inside, with a contemporary aesthetic. Shades of gray on the walls make the already spacious foyer and great room-style living space appear even larger. The kitchen’s soaring ceilings, light cabinetry, white countertops, and a casual dining space make it a gathering spot, and the spacious formal dining area features plenty of natural light via walls of glass windows.
The sprawling property offers recreation galore, with two tennis courts, two putting greens, a basketball court, a koi pond, and a swimming pool with a waterfall and spa amid tropical landscaping and walking paths.
Chang won the French Open in 1989 at the age of 17.
