Canadian automotive tuner Inkas Armored Vehicle Manufacturing recently got its hands on a 2019 Mercedes-AMG G63, and….well, to put it bluntly, they went ballistic.
The armored version of the popular Mercedes isn’t the first to roll out of Inkas’ shop. Last year, they released a G63 limo that looked just as formidable. This revised G-Wagen isn’t as long, but it has been completely updated with a CEN 1063 BR6 ballistic protection level, meaning it’s really bulletproof. This G-Class can withstand assaults from AK47s, high-power rifles, and hand grenades. And, it looks unprepossessing, as far as armored conveyances go.
The handling of this G63 shouldn’t be too much of a departure from the production G63, though; Inkas has apparently developed an armoring process that doesn’t add much weight. The Inkas website is vague when it comes to what is presumably a proprietary process and/or material, but there are probably sheets of Kevlar and carbon fiber involved.
Bearing the lack of weight gain in mind, Inkas’ bulletproof G-Wagen is also the same under the hood as the standard model. That is, a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine making 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. That ought to get you out of trouble fast.
Interested drivers can begin the armoring process for their G63. Pricing starts at $295,000.
