Serbian tennis star Jelena Janković is hoping to declare “game, set, match” with the listing of her San Diego mansion. If she’s lucky, the $13.5 million ask will yield no volley.
The former World No. 1 in singles picked up the 2-acre undeveloped lot for $1.53 million back in 2008 before starting construction on her dream house. The result is a villa that shows off remarkable material choices, with many shipped from Europe.
An Italian design firm was commissioned to develop the 15,113-square-foot home, which now stands out with elegant detailing, including a clay tile roof in contrasting tones, and, inside the home, walnut woodwork, onyx, and imported marble.
The eight-bedroom, eleven-bath villa’s most visually striking space is the double-height great room, which is eager to charm and impress. Exposed woodwork, walls of intricate travertine, a large chandelier, and a wall of retractable glass panels distinguish the room.
Two master suites, a wood-paneled office, a billiard room, a home theater, and wine cellar with a tasting space add to the home’s appeal. Outside, potential buyers will surely be drawn to the tennis court, lounge space, and edge-free pool with spa.
