Two years ago, Sandra Bullock offered the main house of her Tybee Island, Georgia, retreat for rent. The entire property is now for sale with an asking price of $6.5 million.
The compound is comprised of nine parcels, and encompasses some three acres of beachfront property on the quiet barrier island near Savannah. The main house dates to 1993; it measures about 3,360 square feet, and mimics a 1920’s-style southern coastal vacation home beautifully. There is also a 2,848 square-foot guest home on the property.
The main house features a prominent first-floor wraparound porch, and a covered porch on the second floor for the master suite. Within, the shared living spaces flow out from a double-height great room with clerestory windows, abundant clapboard, plenty of glass, exposed ceilings, and a second-floor gallery presiding overhead. The spaces feature a blend of whitewash, mid-toned hardwood, and brick, presenting a classically comforting vision of timeless summertime idyll.
The guesthouse features an open-concept shared living space, a games room, open porches, and a crow’s nest. The style is similar, but perhaps a shade more rustic.
All told, there are seven bedrooms and six baths on the property. The main house features a pool with a brick surround, and there is a private boardwalk and boat dock, as well as a private path to the beach.
Sandra Bullock remains one of hollywood’s megastars, with her films grossing over $5 billion worldwide. Her most recent releases are Ocean’s 8 and Bird Box.
