In September of last year, restless renovators and house-flippers Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi picked up this Hollywood-pedigreed home in Beverly Hills for $15 million. They only held onto it for the winter before listing it with an asking price of $18 million.

The heavily stylized house dates to the early 1960s. It was designed by John Elgin Woolf, whose Hollywood Revival style riffed on epic film extravagance, injecting the influence of that world into the subtext of his architectural designs. You might spot a little MGM Vistavision in an exterior view of the home, with Greek Revival and French Regency design cues mixing with the potent Modern style to inform the semiotics.

The home has seen a complete restoration this year. Eye-catching original details include a French Regency fireplace mantel and octagon-pattern plank ceiling in the living room, and strikingly figured marble for the fireplace, wet bar, and baths.

The home’s five en-suite bedrooms and their respective terraces culminate in a master with another fireplace; an exterior garden terrace is a nice touch, and the soaking tub centerpiece in the master bath—which is nearly a little sunroom—will also be a major selling point for more discriminating buyers.

DeGeneres and de Rossi are not long absent from the real-estate pages. Their most recent purchase was a Balinese Contemporary-style mansion in Montecito, a preferred stomping ground; the couple parted with $27 million to buy it.
