Swiss watch juggernaut Omega‘s newest timepiece has heavenly aspirations. The Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition wristwatch is an homage to the first moon landing.
Fans of the final frontier can celebrate mankind’s achievement by wearing the striking new watch. But this isn’t the first time Omega has honored space exploration. Just this past December, the brand introduced its “Dark Side of the Moon” Speedmaster in homage of the 1968 Apollo 8 mission.
The homage’s historical meaning has direct associations with the company: Apollo 11 astronauts were equipped with Omega Speedmaster Professional watches. The brand’s newest special edition takes inspiration specifically from the 1969 commemorative model.
Classic in style, the 18-karat “Moonshine” gold wristwatch boasts a burgundy bezel, black varnished hands, black onyx indexes, and a vertically brushed dial. “Appollo 11—50th Anniversary” and “The First Watch Worn on the Moon” is engraved on the inner ring of the caseback.
As a special finishing touch, Omega included a small piece of lunar meteorite on each example. Of course, wearers will also have access to impeccable timekeeping thanks to the manual-winding Master Chronometer caliber-3861 movement.
Just 1,014 examples of Omega’s Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition watch will be made available for about $32K each.
