Married Miami Sound Machine members Gloria and Emilio Estefan listed their home in Miami Beach this month. The duo is asking $32 million for the Star Island home, a Caribbean plantation-style mansion that dates to 1940.

The house features second-floor balconies front and back. Within, a white treatment contrasted with mid-toned plank oak defines the living style; airy, with a bit of earthy texture. Details are often intriguing, and include an ornate carved fireplace mantel in what was probably the Estefans’ conservatory, arched doorways, and louvered doors.

Bright and reflective is the general rule of thumb for the living style. The kitchen is particularly ethereal, and features only a pair of elevated sconces, light beige tiles, and a period-style chandelier to keep it feeling earthbound. Cabinetry, counters, backsplashes, appliances and window frames are all tropical white. The tray ceiling is backlit, adding a bit of contemporary atmosphere.

The home measures just under 8,000 square feet, and contains eight bedrooms and eight baths. The master suite occupies much of the upper floor, and features a bath with a cast iron pedestal tub.

The property’s lot size is as appealing as the home itself: over 1.3 acres of grounds with a long, arcaded arbor sporting vine-covered columns, a large guest house, a pool and spa, a gazebo with a summer kitchen, a brick motor court, and a boat dock.
