Actor Stephen Dorff of “True Detective” recently placed his Malibu beach house on the market for $7.98 million. The home is an effective mix of contemporary and beach-cottage styles. The price represents a significant slash: Dorff originally listed the place for $8.45 million in 2017.
Architects Buff & Hensman built the house in 1968. The design and layout reflect the sensibilities of the era: shingles, earth-tone tile, and lots of glass to let the sunshine in.
Inside, the three-bedroom beachfront home boasts much of its original styling, including a drop-down living room with shag carpeting and an in-wall fireplace. The open-concept living space is accented with walls of glass paneling overlooking the ocean.
The galley-style kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, mid-century styling, and equally impressive ocean views. Future residents can get even closer to the water on one of the several ocean-facing balconies, offering views that beckon them to the property’s 40 feet of La Costa Beach frontage.
Dorff’s appears in this year’s ‘I’ll Find You’; the Martha Coolidge-directed film is due in theaters later this year.
