Swiss watchmaker Hublot recently unveiled its newest limited-edition watch design: The Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire.

And it looks quite forward-thinking. The Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire is crafted from transparent yellow sapphire, giving it a uniquely contemporary appearance. Hublot fans likely know this isn’t the brand’s first foray into the sapphire coloring and shaping process, though.

Back to 2016, Hublot’s coloring experiments led to blue, red, smoked black, and transparent sapphire watches. This is the first time Hublot has used this bright yellow shade, though. In order to create the custom color, the brand’s craftspeople blended aluminum oxide with copper.

The Spirit of Big Bang Yellow Sapphire is intended to make a potent statement on the wearer’s wrist. Beyond its vibrant appearance, the sapphire timepiece is incredibly strong, scoring a 9 on the Mohs scale. For reference, a diamond earns a 10.
