Suzanne Somers and Alan Hamel recently purchased a Palm Springs contemporary for $2.35 million.

The couple’s new Southern California home is located on more than an acre in a gated community, and was custom built in 1978. The 4,900-square-foot residence features work from late interior designer Steve Chase.

The four-bed, 4.5-bath home features spacious living areas and a warm living style, but it’s the living room’s high ceilings and original styling that sets the home apart from other properties in the area. The views are also impressive, and a wall of glass panels looking out to the Coachella Valley floor also helped sell the home.

The home’s unusual touches include a series of display wall niches, a two-way fireplace, and a mirrored ceiling in the great room.

The property’s exterior living spaces make much of a small lot. A meditation space, a separate casita for guests, and a swimming pool and spa add to the home’s unique identity.
