California Governor Gavin Newsom has listed his Marin County Home for $5.9 million. Greater San Francisco might just be too far from his new gig in Sacramento.
Newsom and his wife picked up the updated midcentury property for $2.225 million back in 2011.
The 4,000-square-foot residence was first built by architect Worley K. Wong in 1950, but it has since undergone a comprehensive remodel under the leadership of Julie Dowling. Now, the five-bedroom home boasts a blend of classic midcentury elements and contemporary styling.
Large central living spaces feature dark hardwood floors and walls of floor-to-ceiling glass panels. The modern kitchen boasts minimalist white cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and a larger center island.
The exterior living spaces include a pair of upper-level decks, both of which offer enticing surveys of the mountains. On terra firma, the property packs in a goodly sized swath of green lawn, a pergola, a large deck, a lounge space, a rectangular swimming pool, and a fire feature.
