2020 Range Rover Velar SVAutobiography Dynamic Edition Revealed in All Its Range-Topping Glory

Back in 2015, Land Rover rolled out its Range Rover SVAutobiography, a long-wheelbase SUV that did a fine job of merging urbane Range Rover looks with luxury sedan capacity and luxury emphasis. In 2017, the wheelbase was shortened for the follow-up SVAutobiography Dynamic, which injected a little sport into the variant. The latest SVAutobiography is also a nimble Dynamic type, and this time it’s a Velar.

Some of the stylistic flourishes of this latest SVAutobiography’s elder siblings are gone. The side vents that stood out as such a potent and individual touch—especially given their rendering in a contrasting finish—have been foregone, and the rear windows are more streamlined. The 2017 in particular managed a very convincing aristocratic style, looking English country house shooting party to the bone.

The new SVAutobiography Dynamic Velar is considerably less effusive; it’s sleeker, and on the front end features the Velar’s strong nose above, with modified intakes below. It receives the engine common to the SVAutobiography series, a V8 with a supercharger that will produce 550 HP and 502 pound-feet of torque. The top speed of this SUV is 170 MPH, which tells you that at heart it’s a highway car, albeit one that can manage off-road if necessary.

The SVAutobiography Dynamic Velar’s performance tweaks are many, including rear differential, preset modes, and suspension. Inside, it looks as capable as expected: performance seats, a sport wheel, and very pretty infotainment and digital instrument cluster.

Land Rover hasn’t revealed a base price for the SVAutobiography Dynamic Velar just yet. They have let us know that the variant will be produced in a limited production run, and available for one model year only.
