When Lexus‘ yellow LC Inspiration Series concept appeared last summer at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the variation became an anticipated production car. Lexus, with superb timing, is rolling out the production version this winter in Chicago, with deliveries slated for the first days of spring.
The concept featured a series of carbon fiber details and a beautiful bespoke interior, arresting and enticing features that carry over to the production version. The Flare Yellow exterior paint is suitably extroverted but a bit subtle, too, and the coupe features a carbon fiber grill insert and roof just like the concept model.
In the cabin, soft yellow Alcantara door inserts and yellow stitching pick up the color scheme, semi-aniline seats look pleasingly luxe and sporty, and carbon fiber door sills and a series-specific inscription add high-performance accenting and model identity. But drivers will be most taken with the 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine under the hood.
The powerful engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission; the vehicle can move from zero to 60 mph in just 4.4 seconds. The LC Inspiration is priced at $106,210; only 100 examples are planned for production.
