Anthony Scaramucci Selling Larger Hamptons Manse and Keeping Smaller One In Apparent Change of Heart

Former White House Director of Communications Anthony Scaramucci has been somewhat fickle when it comes to his residences in the Hamptons. In September of 2017 he bought a house in Southampton’s Water Mill, a fairly large and fairly modern residence situated on the border of a reserve; last year, he put another, smaller water-view home—one he’d owned for some time—in Southampton up for sale.

Then, in May of last year, he listed the newer shingle-style house in Water Mill for $7.5 million. Apparently, it was listed concurrently with the Southampton house. Clear so far?

Come January 2019, down comes the listing for the water-view Southampton house, and up for sale goes the newer home in the hamlet of Water Mill…but the price has gone up to $9.75 million. Somewhere in this torrid and tortuous tale, spousal dissatisfaction figures prominently; the newest listing configuration assumes harmony restored. Phew!

Well, anyway. The home is marginally more interesting than its ownership narrative. The 1993-built classically-designed shingle-style extends to 8,300 square feet. The interiors are understated and pretty traditional, with off-white and warm wood expressing the living style. The modern design allows for plenty of glass, taking in meditative and very appealing views of the local residential landscape, and that’s the context where this house really shines.

Highlights include the study, which invites long reading sessions on rainy summer days, and the master suite with a terrace and his-and-hers baths; there are eight bedrooms and nine baths all told, with five of the bedrooms figuring as suites. Amenities include an entertainment room and fitness room.

The property exterior extends to nearly an acre, and it works in a pool and some classic Hamptons landscaping—romantic. But it’s the Water Mill neighborhood itself that invites wandering and immersion.

Scaramucci founded Skybridge Capital in 2005. He acted as co-host for the PBS program ‘Wall Street Week’ after Skybridge acquired the rights, holding the position for a little less than two years and leaving in 2016.
