Former NFL linebacker Aldon Smith recently sold his Bay Area mansion for $2.562 million.
Smith paid $1.75 million for the San Jose residence in 2012. The 10-acre property features a 6,427-square-foot main residence and a separate guest house. Its hillside location makes for excellent views of the city below.
The three-story main house was built in 2007 and contains seven bedrooms and six bathrooms. The buyer may have been mesmerized by the two-story foyer with its dramatic curving staircase, or particularly enamored of a moody execution: the home’s assertive colors dominate the living style, with grays, taupe, emerald green and soft red all in eggshell.
The home’s eat-in kitchen with breakfast bar, family room, living room, and formal dining room are all of a piece, showing off warmth to balance the darker neutral tones. An office with built-in storage, a loft, a billiards room, and a movie theater with a wet bar are a few of the house’s amenities. Most rooms feature the substantial views.
Which are nearly dizzying from the grill station outside. A playground, and a swimming pool with a raised spa, and a large sunlounge fill out the grounds.
