‘Van’ isn’t the first word most folks think of when they imagine their ultimate luxury vehicle. But design brand Italdesign is on a mission to change the perception of the van as clunky, clumsy, and airbrushed. Their take on the conveyance has it as gracefully adept, as fleet as Mercury, and as luxurious as a stretch.
The Italian company tackled the Mercedes-Benz V-Class in their own unique way, using a little of the design language they’ve used in transforming sports cars in the past. The result is a customizable high-end van that no exec or well-heeled vacationer can resist.
Known as the Vulcanus, the V-Class-based build was created for China’s Xingchi Automobiles. The exterior does a fine job of caressing the original beast into fluidity. But inside is where it shines, of course; the space looks marvelously roomy for a van, and also extremely capable. There’s enough onboard tech to keep even the busiest investor connected at all times, and in comfort too. The modern styling of the Vulcanus doesn’t leave out the high-end materials like custom wood trim and leather upholstery, though, and the luxury shines through all the screen flash.
Passengers will enjoy access to three seats, two of which are reclinable and feature individual touchscreens. Riders looking to get in some laptop time or enjoy an impromptu meal can utilize the fold-out table. Last but not least, VIP passengers will be shielded from prying eyes thanks to electrically controlled window shades.
Italdesign hasn’t revealed a base price for the Vulcanus at this time.
