Movie producer Barry Mendel is at work arranging the sale of his Pasadena home for $1.275 million.

Mendel—who is best known for producing “The Sixth Sense” and “The Big Sick”—paid $1.018 million for the Los Angeles-area bungalow in 2005. The charming Craftsman home is a quintessentially classic Pasadena residence, with its low roofline, wood-paneled door and windows, and overhanging eaves.

The 1,796-square-foot residence welcomes visitors with a classic entryway; the beige exterior is set off nicely with red trim. Inside, the living room’s white-painted brick fireplace, wall of windows, and crown molding set the tone.

But its the original burled walnut in the dining area that attracts the eye. The home dates to 1910, and the wood carries much of the age, although era-specific accents continue throughout, and include coffered ceilings and period fixtures.

The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home boasts a number of modern updates as seen in the updated eat-in kitchen; the floors have received a similarly generic treatment. Outside, there is a small turf yard and a brick terrace. A venerable oak or elm presides in the front of the property.

Mendel’s producing credits also include several Wes Anderson films, including “Rushmore” and “The Royal Tenenbaums”; he narrowly missed an Oscar for his work on Spielberg’s “Munich.”
