Leonardo DiCaprio was in a hurry to unload one of his real-estate portfolio entries, because he reduced the price of the period Spanish-style in Silver Lake to $1.6 million and promptly saw it into contract. The actor and producer had initially listed the property in late October with an asking price of $1.75 million. He’d owned the home for well nigh two decades, having dropped $770K for the keys at the tail end of the last century.

The home’s unabashed romance is a pleasure for anyone willing to be enchanted by the style’s intense form of charm; hand-painted tile, a little courtyard, wrought iron, and period light fixtures are among the design features on display inside the stucco home.

It’s a bit larger than it looks, presenting as a cozy cottage from the 1920’s or 1930’s, but managing to sprawl to 3,600 square feet, and pack four bedrooms and five baths into its floor plan. Standout spaces include the kitchen, which has had a period-style revision, with a colorful mix of tile and a kiva-style oven.

Outside, terra-cotta tile, a pair of fountains, a sheltered terrace, and landscaping that makes an artful attempt at privacy in a crowded neighborhood.

Next summer will see DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s new film, ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’.
