Russian automaker Aurus recently sold out of its ultra-luxurious 2019 and 2020 Senat models. The north-of-$150K base sticker didn’t stop the car from being a very hot commodity.
Only 120 examples were earmarked for production, and all are spoken for. Half of them are going straight to the Federal Protection Service, which uses the vehicles for transporting political figures, including Vladdy-who’s-your-daddy.
The ultra-protected armored vehicle is powered by a 4.4-liter V8 hybrid powertrain that pulls extra strength from an electric motor. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels. Aurus is at work developing a behemoth 6.6-liter V12 capable of producing more than 800 horsepower, which will presumably become the new presidential ride of Russia when it emerges.
The Senat boasts fully customizable interior arrangements. Some premium options include a built-in refrigerator, Aurus crystal glasses, and reclining rear seats. And did we mention that it can be optionally armored? That certainly didn’t hurt sales.
Interested demagogues who missed out will have to wait until the 2021 model’s debut to purchase a new Aurus Senat.
