The latest offering from Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse track-specialty division isn’t a track car at all. It’s a street-legal one-off called the SC18 Alston. It was commissioned by an anonymous client, but it may become an accidental spokesman for Squadra Corse. It’s positioned to spread the gospel of the division, just as the Gallardo Squadra Corse did back in 2013 after the racing arm of Lambo had been launched.

And spread the message it does. The photo shoot for this particular one-off looks like a backdrop for the overture of La Forza del Destino, with blood-red and misty fog galore enhancing the color—Grigio Daytona, or Daytona Grey—and the carmine accents. In the middle of all the atmosphere lingers the drama, as serious looking a road car as has ever rolled out of the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. Just over 4” of ground clearance-type serious.

The SC18 uses a huge amount of carbon fiber in its build; the massive rear wing is a notable example. The design uses the Aventador as a foundation, but employs more overtly track-oriented model design features in its execution. The prominent vents, scoops, intakes, and fins are all part of a feature set the company calls ‘extreme aerodynamics’ designed just for the Alston…with inspiration from Lamborghini’s race cars. There are a dozen intakes on the SC18.

The powerplant is an acutely tuned take on the Aventador’s 6.5L non-turbo V12, which in this case throws out 770 horsepower and 720 lb-ft of torque. The all-wheel-drive car can reach 60 in 2.8 seconds.

The price hasn’t been revealed. But the custom design of the car places it easily in the seven-figure category.
