Retired NFL strong safety Troy Polamalu recently scored on the purchase of a Rancho Santa Fe property.
The two-time Super Bowl champion’s new digs are located about 30 minutes from downtown San Diego in Southern California, and ran him $9 million. Polamalu picked up his new 3.25-acre property for nearly a million less than the original ask of $9.9 million.
Considering the sheer size of the compound, it looks like the retired footballer made quite the deal. The Spanish-style megamansion holds seven bedrooms and 10.5 baths. B&W Architects, Emilio & Sons, and designer Lisa Butterbordt worked on the rebuilding of the massive estate in 2011.
As it currently stands, the home is a good example of a luxurious Spanish ranch, with plenty of ramble, some lovely tile, and beautiful rustic raw wood ceilings. Interestingly, the residence is centered around a beautiful 200-year-old oak, a trope borrowed from traditional Spanish designs that used such a venerable tree as a metaphor.
From there, the home branches off with a number of spacious living areas, including a gourmet kitchen, several living rooms, and a formal dining room complete with a walk-in wine cellar. Outside, the luxurious amenities continue with a large lawn, a tennis court, a swimming pool…and not one, but three guest houses for visitors.
Polamalu played exclusively for the Pittsburgh Steelers during his career, spending twelve seasons with the team.
