Heavyweight actor Samuel L. Jackson has listed his Upper East Side pied-a-terre for sale for $13 million. The unit is situated on the eighth floor of the Leonori, a classic residential building on the corner of Madison and 63rd that was constructed in 1900 as an apartment hotel, and revised in the late 1980’s as a luxury condo.
The building is a tasteful piece of history. Its façade is neoclassical, with a little ornamental embellishment that’s unusual for the staunchly dignified style. The building has a timeless spirit, and an incredible aura of substance; the residence’s price tag has everything to do with its address.
The unit is simple in execution. It measures 3,000 square feet, and keeps the flourishes to a minimum…although a trio of playfully grandiose chandeliers add levity and a little creative embellishment to the proceedings.
The home’s best moments involve its pleasing variance of wood grain and its classic tropes. The custom kitchen cabinetry makes for an intense effect, and baths err on the side of tradition, with tile and fixtures that look mid-20th century. A study features a rail ladder.
The apartment contains four bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The master features a walk-in closet, and another suite is positioned off the living room. The home also works in a gallery, wet bar, and den.
Jackson’s long list of upcoming film roles includes the titular lead in ‘The Banker’; the movie was directed and co-written by ‘Adjustment Bureau’ filmmaker George Nolfi.
