Primetime TV creative Shonda Rhimes recently listed her Los Angeles home for $9.995 million.
Rhimes—who is known for creating ABC hits “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal”—owns four luxurious L.A. area homes; this one is located in the Hancock Park area. Set on nearly half of an acre and tucked behind hedges and trees, the 8,298-square-foot residence has six bedrooms. Rhimes bought the property in 2010, paying $5.6 million.
The home was built in the 1920s, and has French-inspired architecture. The interiors feature a classic feel; the foyer boasts checkerboard wood floors. Fireplaces, many sets of French doors, and the occasional soft arch give the home an authentic feel.
Eight-pane windows add to the home’s high-end elegance. A light and open kitchen and large family room, and the expansive living room present a living style that is unpretentious but stylish.
The master suite follows suit. It features a sitting area, a desk space, and his-and-hers walk-in closets and baths, but at no point becomes anxious to dazzle.
The corner lot is quite private, with mature trees and hedges giving the home a welcoming feel. A bit of lawn, an elevated pool and sunlounge, and a 600-square-foot cabana fill out the property.
Rhimes recently climbed on board the Sarandos express. What she’ll develop for Neflix remains to be seen.
