The most expensive foreclosure in America is currently available in Houston for $9.75 million.

The luxurious Texas mansion can be found on an acre of land in the River Oaks neighborhood. The setting is favorable, the house boasts more than a few old-world details, and the price is attractive. The bank is ready to settle its debt on the palatial five-bedroom residence, because they’ve sliced over a third from the initial ask. The property was listed earlier this year for $15.9 million.

The expansive 15,000-square-foot estate is tucked behind gates and plenty of tall hedging for privacy. Once inside, visitors are welcomed via a grand double-height foyer accented with a chandelier and marble flooring.

Further inside, future residents will likely host grand galas in the various entertaining spaces, including a bona-fide ballroom with soaring ceilings, French doors, and four chandeliers. Opportunities to entertain continue with the truly giant dining room and wine cellar.

And what we can only describe as an indoor swimming promenade. Technically called a natatorium, the massive Roman-style indoor swimming area stands out with wood paneled walls, a windowed gallery, French doors, bronze columns, and a heated pool and spa. If such comforts aren’t enough, there is also a large screen theater installed.

Those looking to enjoy some time outdoors will find pleasure on one of the several grand terraces. Golfers take note: the River Oaks Country Club is a short walk away.
