About a year and a half after picking up a Beverly Crest estate to the tune of over $18 million, Katy Perry decided to purchase an auxiliary property just around the corner in Hidden Valley. The pop singer invested $7.5 million for the smaller gated property, which is anchored by a renovated traditional-style house that dates to 1960.
Streetside, the home presents astonishing suburban appeal, with mature trees, ground cover, hedges and flowering shrubs landscaped as edge-of-wild. Past an insistent but not imposing set of gates, the property protectively presents a garage door and second-floor guest-room balcony as a first impression. The best that the property has to offer is accessible only via a charming imperative: a covered passage that acts as the preamble to the front walk. From there it blossoms into a green glade of manicured lawn, flowers, arbor, trellis, patio, and pool.
The just over 4,400 square-foot house features a privacy-oriented layout, as well; it strays into a second floor at ends, with a master suite opening onto a balcony that overlooks the pool and the guest or staff room opposite. The shared living spaces are between, a bright, airy cluster that has as its heart an extremely cozy kitchen/dayroom/family room with a fireplace.
Perry’s successful tour in support of her latest album ‘Witness’ wrapped up in August, grossing about $50 million. Job well done; new home purchased.
