Boston Celtics pro-basketballer Kyrie Irving recently sold his Westlake, Ohio home, but things didn’t turn out quite as planned. Irving took a bit of a loss in the process, and saw the home sell for a million less than his dreamed-of ask.
Irving initially listed the home in October of 2017 for a sanguine $1.7 million, before dropping the price to $1.2 million in late July. When all was said and done, the house had sold for $755,000 against Irving’s 2014 purchase price of $800K.
Irving was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Boston Celtics in 2017. After a year, the property had become an albatross for the professional athlete, with tax and maintenance not insubstantial concerns.
The new owner is sure to enjoy entertainment-friendly spaces like a two-story living room equipped with a basketball hoop, formal dining room, recreation room, movie theater, and recording studio.
The median home price in Westlake is just $325,000.
