Pop/rock singer-songwriter Richard Marx has significantly reduced the ask on his Chicago home.

The move signals a 50-percent reduction from his original listing price of $18 million, and follows nearly four years on the market, the musician is clearly looking to move on from the Lake Bluff, Illinois, property. The price has now come down to $9 million.

The five-acre property boasts 400 feet of Lake Michigan water frontage, and is located about 35 miles from the city. The singer formerly lived with his ex-wife in the residence—and has since remarried—so the extraordinary flexibility isn’t surprising. And Marx is still set to make quite a profit, even if the 21-year investment is a little anemic; the pop star paid just $4.7 million for the residence back in 1997.

The 30,000-square-foot main residence is particularly luxurious with several large entertaining spaces and seven bedrooms. A grand kitchen with a massive center island, a sprawling living room with a fireplace and several sets of French doors, and a recreation room with a bar, a theater are standout spaces. There is a recording studio in the home.

Hitmaker Marx’s string of platinum albums include 1989’s ‘Repeat Offender’ and 1994’s ‘Paid Vacation.’
