Emmy-nominated TV writer/producer/creator Anthony Zuiker recently listed his Malibu retreat for $9.45 million.
Zuiker paid $7.5 million for the Los Angeles-area home back in May 2012. The two-story tropical-contemporary stretches to 5,500 square feet, and is located on 1.4 acres in the hills above the iconic Pacific Coast Highway.
The five-bedroom, five-bath residence was built in 1990 and has since undergone significant renovations to transform it from its original Mediterranean-villa-style to the equatorial contemporary it now resembles. Features include a house-wide speaker system, walnut flooring, and abundant glass and interior/exterior flow.
The central living space is a combination living room, casual dining space, and kitchen. Light and airy thanks to large retractable glass walls, this modern space is certainly the center of the home, and best embodies the house’s unique balance of ponderous concrete and easygoing, tropical-rustic style.
The kitchen features dark wood cabinetry; a dramatic tray ceiling adds liberation along with an open flow to the dayroom, outdoor dining area, and family room. A dedicated formal dining room receives special mention.
Most impressive, though, might be the entertaining-friendly exterior complete with a summer kitchen, lots of deck space, a lounge with a fire feature, a tennis court, and a swimming pool and spa. Guests will be very comfortable in the separate guest house on the property.
Zuiker is best known for his work on all four iterations of the “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” franchise.
