Boston Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck has reduced the ask once again on his Martha’s Vineyard estate. The property–a sprawling 2001-built estate–is now priced at $16.25 million. Grousbeck first listed the home for $22.5 million back in August 2015, and he’s hoping the $6+ million price cut will bring the 6,900-square-footer a bit more attention.
The residence holds seven bedrooms and 8.5 baths. Its architecture balances traditional coastal Northeast and contemporary very well, with a winged, shingled design that culminates in a prominent cupola over the entry.
Inside, the home is very open, and quite modern. The great room features a cathedral ceiling with industrial trussing and polished concrete support columns. The industrial feel is enhanced by light fixtures, although stone, brick, tongue-and-groove and even a few classical columns give the interiors a certain layered stylistic effect.
The estate is situated on the edge of the Edgartown Great Pond. The nearly 30 acres of land are spectacularly private, and divided by a long private walk leading down to the beach.
Investor Grousbeck purchased the Celtics with his father, H. Irving, in 2002. The Grousbecks paid $360 million for the organization.
