Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman may have seen their rural Tennessee estate into the sunset; according to public records, the home is under contract. The couple has been trying to sell the property for at least two years, and listed it initially at $3.45 million. The last listing price for the 36-acre escape was $2.75 million.
Breathing room tells the tale behind the purchase; the acreage surrounds the home in forest, and allows for extravagant lawns and gardens, and a marvelously long drive that could represent a first phase of decompression from the pressures of the entertainment industry. The area is bucolic and low-key.
But the main house—there are two, as the property as it currently stands is the result of two purchases totaling $2.45 million—certainly has its consolations. It measures nearly 5,100 square feet, with four bedrooms and six baths throughout. It dates to the late 1980’s, and features a brick exterior for an unassuming but substantive farmhouse style.
Inside, things are a bit more modern, and the living style can definitely be categorized as ‘contemporary’; skylights and cathedral ceilings make it airy and bright, and dark-finished hardwood warms and adds contrast. The staircase sports an industrial-inflected balustrade, and rises to a glassed-in catwalk that is the home’s most interesting feature.
The second home on the property is now a guest house. There is a barn on the property.
Kidman and Urban have been married since 2006.
