Icelandic singer-songwriter Björk has offered her Brooklyn penthouse for sale. The property listed recently with an asking price of $9 million.
The musician’s New York City unit is located in a pre-war co-op building in the Brooklyn Heights neighborhood. The luxurious penthouse holds four bedrooms and four bathrooms, and is charmingly quirky; built-ins, a wild mix of light fixtures, brick, tile, steel, and hardwood floors are used for expression.
Björk and her partner at the time, Matthew Barney, paid $4 million for the residence nearly a decade ago. Shared living spaces boast chic, minimalist designs, including a living room with a central fireplace, and a dining room with two sets of French doors opening onto a small solarium. Further inside, a minimalist kitchen is accented with penny tile flooring, a Venetian glass chandelier, and modern stainless steel appliances.
The rooftop terrace offering incredible views of the city beyond. It may be the gem of the unit, effecting an urbane atmosphere with a bit of history.
The avant-garde performer’s last studio effort was 2017’s critically-acclaimed ‘Utopia.’
