DJ Khaled’s new residence is a relatively new build in Miami Beach; the seller was none other than Michael Lerner, the creator and developer of the 1980’s ‘Baby on Board’ in-car traffic sign which continues to be used today, and the founder of Safety 1st Co, which he sold nearly two decades ago for $195 million.
Lerner had attempted to sell this house in 2016, for $29.5 million, but had dropped the price to $25.9 million a short time before the sale. Khaled swept in with $21.75 million and came away with the keys.
The home is five years old or less. The multi-million dollar parcel of prime Miami Beach real estate was developed as a trophy estate, and mixes contemporary and tropical architecture: lots of glass, limestone, and warm wood sum up a look at the exterior.
Inside, the house has a lot to say. The great room is anchored by a statement fireplace accent wall, and presided over by a second-story catwalk. The angularity of the lines gives the interiors an uncompromising look.
The house measures nearly 20,000 square feet, and sprawls from the waterfront nearly to the rear of the over one-acre lot. There are nine bedrooms and eleven baths in all, and a long list of high-end materials and amenities to boot—Brazilian teak, abundant marble, a home theater, a thoroughly contemporary kitchen, and a massive master suite with a lavish bath top the list.
The home is situated on the waterway, with 105’ of frontage. A pool, privacy landscaping, and fairly large lawns fill out the property.
DJ Khaled’s new studio record—‘Father of Asahd’—will be released later this month.
