Sandra Bullock Finds a Buyer for Hollywood Hills Home at $2.9M

Sanda Bullock has sold her oh-so-comfortable cottage in the Hills, taking just under the asking price of $3 million for the cozy home. Ms. Bullock called it her own way back in 2001, when she forked over $1.485 million for the keys.

The 3,153 square-footer dates to 1942, and contains evidence of many smaller revisions over the years. So many small customizations and ‘improvements’ can lead to a jumbled end result, but this home comes off as appealingly quirky, not haphazard.

A few of the home’s interior architecture features are downright cool. The kitchen, for example, is given a nifty context; it shares a wall with a skylight-studded solarium, and has glass panels opening into the sunroom, with a large window offering a view of the meditation garden. The effect is surprising, but almost guaranteed to not devolve into novelty.

Skylights and clerestories have liberated what may have been—way back when—a fairly dark interior. Other surprises include a spiral staircase leading to a studio which had been purposed as a fitness room at the time of the sale; a sleeping loft is incorporated here as a guest accommodation. Apart from the loft, there are three bedrooms and at least three baths in the home.

The property exterior includes a tiered flagstone patio, a pool, a cabana, and a zen meditation garden with little footpath that looks very atmospheric indeed.
