Late last month, actor James Woods wrapped up another residential home sale, handing over the keys to a house in Beverly Hills for $2.9 million. Just two months ago, Woods sold his other L.A.-area home; that house, another modern-style, is situated in the Hollywood Hills, and went for $2.3 million.
Woods paid $2.25 million for this particular mid-century modern about three years ago. Tucked privately behind a gate, the 2,200-square-foot ranch-style residence holds two bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.
The interiors present a bit of a time-capsule, in the best possible way for a home dating to 1954. Classic mid-century elements truly make the home stand out; they include slatted wood room dividers, plenty of custom built-ins, and vintage tile work. The bright, open-concept living room features a centerpiece brick fireplace and an extensive array of windows. Satin-finished natural-tone plank floors look recently added, but add that classic warmth to the style.
The kitchen is another standout. A vintage range, a diner-booth breakfast nook, and simple white cabinetry hint at the past.
Outside, a brick dining terrace equipped with a built-in barbeque holds court when gatherings occur, and a swimming pool and spa provide watery recreation.
Woods won an Emmy for his portrayal of Bill W. He has twice been nominated for an Oscar: for ‘Salvador’ in 1987, and ‘Ghosts of Mississippi’ a decade later.
