BMW surprised fans with the introduction of the powerful but compact crossover model, the X2. A subcompact from BMW? Sure, but it’s still a BMW.
And the M35i variant looks even better than the regular X2. It is billed as a subcompact crossover, but shouldn’t be underestimated. The M35i is sporty, chic, and sneakily aggressive.
The German automaker’s petite new crossover features an impressive spec rundown that includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine fed by higher-flow intake and features larger main bearings. This results in 302 horsepower and a zero-to-60 mph leap of just 4.9 seconds. Small, but nimble.
Additional features like M Sport brakes, a limited-slip front differential, faster steering, and updated suspension all help the diminutive crossover add up to a rather thrilling daily driver.
BMW isn’t talking pricing for the M35i X2 just yet. A standard X2 starts at about $37K.
