America’s ambassador to Austria, Trevor Traina, is seeking a renter for his luxurious San Francisco home. The rent comes to $55,000 a month, but the home is an adventure in interior design.

Why, you ask, is Mr. Traina is hoping to rent his Pacific Heights home? Because he’ll be busy fulfilling his ambassadorial duties in Austria, naturally.

Considered the most luxurious rental in its area, the 10,890-square-foot Georgian home is presently available for a one- or two-year lease. The seven-bedroom residence comes furnished and decorated, which is quite impressive considering the incredible collection of art inside, and the care taken with room-to-room decor. For such mercurial interiors, the whole is remarkable cohesive.

Art of Diane Arbus, Robert Rauschenberg, Damien Hirst, and Andy Warhol is on display, and the house boasts classically luxurious features like large windows offering bay views, a “Hirst Bar,” a circular library, a gallery, and a startlingly beautiful conservatory.

The recently appointed ambassador and tech entrepreneur purchased the house for $8.52 million in 2006.
