Actor Kal Penn is looking to move on from his Hollywood Hills home; he’s priced the pad at $1.5 million, and hefted it onto the open market. Penn purchased the 1,600-square-foot home for $1.2 million back in 2007, so he is set to make a decent profit on his investment.
Although steely gray on the outside, the inside of the home is bright and airy throughout. The two- to three-bedroom, three-bath hillside house impresses with simple yet luxurious features: light hardwood floors, slightly vaulted ceilings with exposed beams, and a combination living-dining space.
The mid-century vibe has aged well, and the renovations through the years have given the home a unique identity. The result is a collage effect that’s a little bohemian.
The dining area and kitchen are flooded with natural light from nearby walls of glass. The kitchen may be the heart of the home, though; it stands out with an industrial-meets-mid-century style that’s both chic and inviting, and manages to work in a large center island and skylight.
The property exterior is tight, but there is ample space to host friends and family on the terrace, out on the trellis-shaded dining deck, or in the hot tub.
