A select number of lucky fans of the fantasy-espionage classic “Goldfinger” will soon be able to get their Bond V1.0 on thanks to Aston Martin’s announcement of a limited-edition production run of the film’s custom DB5. This is exciting news for those of us who owned a Corgi scale model of the sports back in the 1960’s, or inherited one from an older brother in the 1970’s.

The luxury automaker revealed that it plans to build 28 full-size reproductions of the iconic Bond car from 1964 film. Each of the special Aston Martin DB5 examples will look just like the vehicle from the movie; the automaker partnered with a special effects supervisor from a number of recent Bond entries, and has the blessing of Albert R. Broccoli’s EON productions.

What makes these vehicles even more unique is that—like the movie—the cars will feature a number of eminently useful gadgets. Because of these unique standard features, this particular Aston Martin sports car will not be street legal. Changeable license plates, perhaps? Unknown. Exact details haven’t been released, so you’ll have to sweet-talk curmudgeonly Q to find out.

Available for around $3.51 million each, the Bond-inspired Aston Martin DB5 examples will be delivered to Bondophiles in 2020.
