EarthCruiser Australia is hoping to alter our perceptions of RVs with the introduction of its Unimog-based EarthCruiser Explorer XPR440.

The Mercedes-Benz’ Unimog U 430 isn’t well-known in the U.S., but it’s popular in Europe, and down under. But the wanderlust-afflicted who has a penchant for adventure and a flush wallet should consider opting for one of these ultra-durable vehicles. The bruiser looks are well-matched with an acutely engineered utilitarian appeal.

There is a reason the Unimog has been popular for military use; the vehicle is designed for rugged terrain and unforgiving environments. Thanks to a powerful engine making 300 horsepower, the all-wheel-drive vehicle can cruise unexplored roads with relative ease. Additionally, the steering wheel and pedals can be moved from the right side to the left with ease.

EarthCruiser Australia’s take on the Unimog is especially interesting thanks to its custom design focused on recreation. This is a camper for the serious outdoorsperson. It is set up to survive the apocalypse with front and rear winches, solar panels, and a steel bumper equipped with auxiliary lights. Oh, and it comes with a chainsaw.

Luxury features abound, though. A BBQ compartment, air conditioning, a kitchenette, a washing machine, a full bathroom, and sleeping accommodations ensure passengers rest in comfort.
