Supermodel and businesswoman Elle Macpherson is the buyer of this French-influenced villa in Coral Gables. Macpherson paid Art of Shaving CEO Eric Malka $8.1 million for the home, but purchasing the new pad must’ve taken the sting out of winter when she snapped it up this past February.

The home dates to 1989. The streetside façade features a dramatically hipped roof, second-floor balconies, a paned entrance clerestory, and a paver driveway.

The interior begins with a wide-open foyer. Scale is established with the high double-doors, the paned clerestory window, and the second-floor ceiling. A sculpted staircase with a wrought-iron balustrade rises to a gallery overlooking the foyer on the upper level.

Floors are wide-plank, natural-toned satin finish; otherwise, faintly warm off-white carries the day; the result is an understated but cohesive look that balances warmth and texture with ethereal quite well. Pocket doors, and multiple sets of French doors, keep the living style traditional, but sophisticated.

The house is situated in the Gables Estates gated neighborhood, and extends to nearly one and three-quarter acres. The property exterior shines, selling the home all by itself; the rear of the property incorporates a pergola-capped patio and a terrace, with a broad set of stone steps leading down to a large pool—also understated—with lawns, mature trees, and a border of mangrove landscaping providing privacy.

Macpherson’s career has included the launch of her lingerie and skin-care products companies, as well as television appearances and production duties.
