Phish lead singer Trey Anastasio recently sold his New York home for $1.83 million.
The rock band frontman accepted an offer significantly lower than his original ask of $2.995 million. The home in Snedens Landing had been on the market for about three years.
Nestled in a secluded and idyllic setting, the house is set above the Hudson River on a two-acre wooded cliff about an hour’s drive away from NYC. The musician purchased the 2,120-square-foot home for $2.7 million back in 2009. The former owner was none other than actress Loraine Bracco, who starred in Scorsese’s seminal arthouse gangster film ‘GoodFellas.’
The three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home was built in 1960 and features a combination living and dining room with hardwood floors, a brick fireplace, and expansive windows offering views of the river. The design style is entirely unprepossessing, warm, and inviting, with brick, dark wood, stone, and simple fixtures giving it a sense of continuity with its setting.
Future residents can easily move from the living room out to the expansive wrap-around deck. Although small, the kitchen is well-equipped with black granite counters, shaker cabinets, high-end appliances, and a white farm sink. From the kitchen, there is easy access to a side yard with a charming dining terrace overlooking the water.
Anastasio’s idiosyncratic style helped give Phish its identity as the natural successor to the Grateful Dead in the 1990’s. The band will appear at their Watkins Glen festival reboot this month.
